Credited with leading San Francisco’s comedy renaissance in the late 1970s, Williams famously sprung to global fame as one half of the title role in extraterrestrial sitcom Mork & Mindy. His glittering career would go on to span more than 30 years, starring in countless blockbuster and indie movies including Good Morning Vietnam, Mrs Doubtfire, Hook, Dead Poets Society, Disney’s Aladdin and more recently the Night at the Museum and Happy Feat franchises. His tragic but self-initiated end in August triggered a huge outpouring of grief, bringing to centre stage the often taboo topic of depression and mental health.
